Printed notepad vs branded notebook: they solve different problems
A printed notepad is a pad of loose sheets glued or spiral-bound at the top or side, with your logo, phone number and website printed on every single page. The sheet leaves the pad and travels — to a client, onto a whiteboard, into a file. That repeated print on every sheet is the whole point. Hotels, clinics, showrooms and conference organisers buy these by the thousand.
A branded notebook is a bound book with a cover — PU leather, cork, recycled kraft, rPET, PVC — and your logo printed, debossed or engraved once, on the outside. The pages stay in the book. Nobody sees the logo except the person carrying it, which is exactly why it works as a gift: it sits on a desk for a year.

Sizes: A4, A5, B5, A6 — and which one people actually use
- A4 (210 × 297 mm) — desk pads and meeting-room pads. Too big to carry, which is fine because it never leaves the table. Best for training rooms and workshops.
- A5 (148 × 210 mm) — the default for corporate gifting in the UAE, and the size most of our stock notebooks come in. Fits a laptop bag, big enough to write properly.
- B5 (176 × 250 mm) — between A5 and A4. Noticeably more generous than A5 without becoming a document. A good differentiator when everyone else at the event is handing out A5.
- A6 (105 × 148 mm) — pocket size. Works as a low-cost giveaway or as the notepad in a folder set, less well as a standalone gift.
- Custom sizes — available for printed notepads; a square 15 × 15 cm pad or a narrow 10 × 21 cm reception pad is easy to produce and stands out.
Binding: glued, spiral or thread-sewn
Glue-bound (padded)
Sheets are padded and glued along one edge, then tear off cleanly. The cheapest binding and the right one for anything disposable — order pads, prescription pads, reception pads, hotel desk pads. Standard pads run 50 or 100 sheets.
Spiral / wire-o
A metal or plastic coil through punched holes. Pages lie completely flat and fold all the way back, which matters if people write on them while standing. Slightly more expensive, and a spiral pad survives a delegate bag much better than a glued one.
Thread-sewn hardcover
Used on the ready-made notebooks. Signatures are sewn rather than glued, so the book opens flat and the pages do not fall out after a year. Our A5 hardcover stock notebooks are thread-bound with 192 ruled pages at 70 gsm.
Cover materials for branded notebooks
- PU leather — the corporate default. Takes debossing beautifully; a blind-debossed logo on black PU is the safest premium look there is.
- Cork — natural, distinctive texture, reads as sustainable without shouting. Screen prints well in one colour.
- Recycled kraft / cardboard — the value option. Best for large-volume events where cost per piece drives the decision.
- rPET — recycled plastic covers, often GRS-certified, with anti-microbial treatment on some lines. Good for healthcare, education and any brand with a published sustainability commitment.
- Sugarcane and seed paper — the conversation pieces. Seed-paper covers are embedded with marigold seeds and can be planted. Effective at sustainability-themed events, less so as an everyday desk notebook.
- PVC hardcover — wipe-clean and cheap. Site offices, workshops, anywhere the notebook gets treated roughly.

Getting your logo onto the cover
- Screen printing — one or two solid colours. Cheapest at volume, excellent on cork, kraft and PU. Not for gradients or photographs.
- UV printing — full colour, flat, no colour limit. The right choice for logos with more than two colours or a gradient.
- Debossing — a heated die presses your logo into the PU cover. No ink, so it never scratches off and never clashes with the cover colour. The most premium-looking option and often the cheapest at high volume once the die is made.
- Laser engraving — for cork, wood-effect and some PU covers. Produces a permanent tonal mark.
Send vector artwork (AI, EPS or PDF) for any of these. A JPG or a logo lifted off a website will not deboss cleanly, and we would rather redraw it than print it badly.
Choosing by budget
- Under AED 5 — mass event giveaways, delegate bags, school and training kits. PVC or recycled kraft covers.
- AED 5–15 — the sweet spot for staff and mid-tier client gifting. Spiral or hardcover notebooks with a pen and often sticky notes included, frequently with a sustainability story.
- AED 15–50 — gift sets. Notebook plus pen, or notebook plus tumbler, in a box. This is where onboarding kits usually land.

Frequently asked questions
What is the minimum order for branded notebooks?
Stock notebooks branded with your logo typically start around 50–100 pieces, because screen and UV printing need a setup per design. Below that we can still supply the notebooks unbranded, or apply UV printing at a higher per-piece rate. Custom-printed notepads are priced per run rather than per piece.
Is A5 or B5 better for a corporate gift?
A5 is safer — it fits every laptop bag and every desk drawer, and recipients are used to it. B5 is the better choice when you want the gift to feel more substantial than everyone else's, and when the notebook will live on a desk rather than travel. B5 costs slightly more in materials but the perceived step up is larger than the price step.
Can you print our logo on every page of a notebook, not just the cover?
On a custom-printed notepad, yes — that is the standard specification. On stock bound notebooks, no: the pages are already printed and bound. If you need branding inside a bound book, we produce fully custom notebooks with printed inner pages as a made-to-order job, which needs a higher minimum and a longer lead time.
How many sheets should a notepad have?
Fifty sheets is the practical standard for handouts and reception pads — thick enough to feel substantial, thin enough that the pad is used up and reordered. One hundred sheets suits desk pads and hotel rooms. Above 100, glued pads become unwieldy and spiral binding is a better answer.
Which notebooks are genuinely sustainable rather than just marketed that way?
Look for a certification rather than a colour. In our range that means GRS-certified recycled PU and rPET covers, FSC-certified paper, and single-material notebooks such as the sugarcane-pulp A5 where cover and pages are the same waste-derived material. A brown kraft cover on virgin paper is a look, not a credential.
