A clinic or salon in Dubai runs on four printed pieces, not forty: an appointment card that stops no-shows, a loyalty card that survives a handbag, a gift voucher that sells in December, and a consent or treatment-record book that keeps your files defensible. All four together cost under AED 1,800. 500 appointment cards are AED 99. 1,000 wipe-clean PET loyalty cards are AED 289. 20 books of numbered, perforated gift vouchers are AED 1,000. This guide covers what to print, which stock actually holds up in a treatment room, the sizes that fit a UAE wallet, and the advertising approval step that catches medical clinics out.

Appointment cards: the cheapest no-show insurance you can buy

An appointment card is a business card with a writable back. It is printed on the same press, at the same price, and it is the single highest-ROI print item a service business in Dubai can order — one recovered AED 400 appointment pays for a whole run.

The stock choice matters more than the design. You need a surface a receptionist can write a date on with a normal pen:

  • 350 GSM matt laminated — AED 99 per 500, AED 119 per 1,000. Matt lamination takes ballpoint and gel pen. This is the standard choice and the right one for most clinics.
  • 400 GSM matt — AED 115 per 500. Stiffer, feels more clinical in the good sense.
  • Rounded corners, AED 159 per 1,000. Worth it for aesthetic clinics and salons — rounded corners read as softer and they do not fray in a bag.
  • Never glossy. A glossy laminate will not take pen ink reliably. If you want a glossy front, print it single-sided glossy with a matt back, or skip it. Our lamination guide explains why.

Testing a new brand? 100 digitally printed cards are AED 140 and 250 are AED 200 — more per card, but you are not sitting on 900 cards with the old logo.

Loyalty cards: print them on plastic-feel stock, not paper

A loyalty card lives in a wallet for a year and gets stamped ten times. Paper at 350 GSM will not survive that, and a card that looks battered makes your brand look battered.

The right stock is 760 micron PET with glossy lamination, rounded corners — AED 289 per 1,000, or AED 0.29 a card. It is effectively a plastic card: water resistant, wipe-clean, and it does not soften. For a premium salon or aesthetic clinic, 760 micron velvet-laminated with spot UV is AED 279 per 500 — the soft-touch finish that makes a membership card feel like one.

Two practical design rules. First, size the stamp boxes for a real rubber stamp — most are 10 to 12 mm, so a 6 mm box is useless. Second, put the expiry policy on the card, not just in your system, because the argument at reception is always about what the customer believes the card said.

Handing out membership or ID cards to staff or clients? Clear PVC card holders are AED 2.10 each and are in stock.

Gift vouchers: numbered and perforated, or don't bother

Gift vouchers are the highest-margin thing a salon sells in December, and the print spec is what makes them auditable. 20 books of 5 × 7 cm vouchers on 170 GSM glossy, printed both sides with sequential numbering and perforation, are AED 1,000.

The numbering is the point. Without sequential numbers you cannot reconcile issued vouchers against redemptions, and you cannot tell a reprint from a duplicate. The perforation means the stub stays in the book with the buyer's name and the issue date. Print the terms on the reverse: expiry, whether it covers products or services only, and whether it is transferable. Every voucher dispute in a Dubai salon comes down to one of those three lines being missing.

Consent forms, treatment records and the NCR book

Anything a client signs should exist in two copies at the moment of signing — that is exactly what NCR (carbonless) books do. Client keeps the top copy, you keep the duplicate, no photocopier involved.

10 A5 books, 1+1 duplicate, one-colour, are AED 390. For full-colour branded forms, 10 A4 books at 1+1 are AED 500, and 1+2 triplicate is AED 580 if a third copy goes to accounts. A5 is the practical size for consent and aftercare records; A4 for treatment plans and quotations. Our NCR book guide covers numbering and part configurations.

The approval step medical clinics forget

Healthcare facilities in Dubai need their advertising and promotional material approved by the Dubai Health Authority before publication, and other emirates have their own regulators. That applies to printed price lists, treatment offers and promotional flyers — not to a plain appointment card carrying your name and number.

Requirements change, so confirm the current process and which pieces need a permit with the DHA or your facility's licensing consultant before you print. Salons and beauty businesses fall under different municipality rules, which are lighter, but claims about medical results are treated as medical advertising regardless of what your licence says. Get the offer wording cleared first, then print — never the other way round with a 1,000-piece run.

How to order

Send a PDF with 3 mm bleed, CMYK, 300 dpi, and keep any text 5 mm inside the trim — the artwork checklist has the details. No artwork? Our free design service will build the set from your logo and service list, which is how most single-location clinics order.

Production is 3 to 5 business days after final approval; numbered voucher books and NCR sets run 5 days because of the numbering and collating. All prices include VAT, delivery is free across the UAE above AED 800, and collection is available from 32 Sheikh Zayed Road, Office 706, Dubai.

Frequently asked questions

What stock should appointment cards be printed on?

350 GSM with matt lamination — AED 99 per 500. Matt takes pen ink; glossy resists it. If you want the front to shine, keep the writable side matt.

Are plastic loyalty cards worth the extra cost?

At AED 289 per 1,000, 760 micron PET costs AED 0.17 more per card than standard 350 GSM and lasts a year of stamping in a handbag instead of three months. For any card a client is meant to keep and bring back, yes.

Can gift vouchers be individually numbered?

Yes — sequential numbering and perforation are included in the 20-book voucher run at AED 1,000. Numbering is what lets you reconcile sales against redemptions, so treat it as essential rather than optional.

What is the smallest order for a new salon testing its branding?

100 digitally printed cards at AED 140, or 250 at AED 200. Print those, use them for a month, then order 1,000 offset at AED 119 once the logo and the phone number are final.

Do I need approval to print a treatment price list in Dubai?

If you are a licensed health facility, promotional and advertising material generally requires DHA approval before publication — confirm the current requirement with the authority or your licensing consultant. Beauty salons follow municipality rules instead, but any claim of a medical result is treated as medical advertising. Clear the wording before printing.

Can I put a QR code on an appointment card?

Yes, and for booking links it works well. Keep it at 1.5 to 2 cm with a clear border, high contrast, and never place it over a photo — the full sizing rules are in our QR code printing guide.

How many aftercare cards should a clinic print?

1,000 A6 cards at AED 120 covers most single-location clinics for a year, and at AED 0.12 each there is no reason to run short. Print one design per treatment group rather than one generic card nobody reads.
