Size selection is a legibility problem, not a design preference. The rule that works: your smallest body text should be roughly readable from the distance people will actually stand.

The mistake we see most often in Dubai is a mall-facing A3 with 10 pt body copy. Nobody stops to read it. If the message needs detail, print A2 or larger, or cut the message down to a headline and a QR code. A2 and A0 are quoted on request alongside the standard sizes below — send your dimensions and quantity.
Short run or bulk? The question that sets your price
Short runs (10–50 pieces) are digital output. You pay a per-piece rate with no plate setup, and you can order 15 posters without a conversation about minimums. This is the right route for internal signage, a single event, a window display, or a set of department notices.
Bulk runs (500+) move onto press, where the setup cost is spread across the run and the per-piece price collapses. Five hundred A3 posters on 100 gsm cost AED 330 — 66 fils each. Push that to 5,000 and the same poster is under 20 fils. If your campaign genuinely needs volume — retail chains, distribution drops, school packs — the bulk route is not slightly cheaper, it is an order of magnitude cheaper.
The break-even sits somewhere around 100–200 pieces. Below it, order short-run and keep your flexibility; above it, order the bulk tier even if you only need 400, because 500 will cost less than 400 priced as a digital job.

Read the A3 rows across and you will see where volume pays. Going from 500 to 1,000 on 135 gsm glossy adds AED 150 for another 500 posters — 30 fils each, against 84 fils for the first 500.
Paper choice: three decisions, no more
Weight. 100 gsm wood free is the economical choice for high-volume, short-life posters — event notices, price lists, seasonal promotions that come down in three weeks. 115 gsm is the middle ground. 135 gsm has enough body to hang flat on a wall without curling, which matters in air-conditioned interiors where thin stock ripples. For anything that has to look considered — a hotel lobby, a showroom, a gallery wall — go 135 gsm or heavier.
Finish. Glossy lifts saturation and makes photography look sharper, which is why retail and F&B posters are nearly always glossy. The trade-off is glare: under the spotlighting common in Dubai malls and lobbies, a glossy A1 can become unreadable from certain angles. Matte or wood free stock reads better under strong directional light and is easier to write on.
Sides. The bulk tiers above are priced two-sided, which is worth knowing — if you are printing window posters visible from both inside and outside a shop, you are already paying for the second side.
Mounting and display: the part people forget to budget
A poster taped to gypsum looks like a poster taped to gypsum. Three options change that.
- Foam or Forex board mounting — AED 245. Your print laminated onto a rigid board: foam core in 5 mm or 10 mm, or Forex (PVC) in 2, 3, 5 or 10 mm. Sits on a tabletop or floor easel, leans against a wall, hangs with double-sided tape, or hangs from grommets. Forex is the tougher of the two and the one to choose for anything reused or moved between venues.
- Self-standing units — from AED 465. A Forex self standee stands unsupported, and a cutout standee is shaped to your artwork — the life-size character or product silhouette that stops people at an entrance.
- Roll-up banners — from AED 190. For anything above A1 that has to travel, a roll-up in an 85 × 200 cm cassette is usually a better answer than a large poster. It ships in a bag, sets up in thirty seconds and lasts across dozens of events. For genuinely large-format work — hoardings, fence graphics, building-side messaging — poster stock is the wrong material entirely. Flex banner printing starts at AED 35 and is quoted by finished size, with hemmed edges, eyelets, rope, pole pockets or D-rings depending on how it is hung. Permanent wall and shopfront messaging belongs in signage, not paper.
Getting the artwork right first time
- Set up at real size with 3 mm bleed on every edge. An A3 poster file is 303 × 426 mm with the artwork running off all four sides.
- Keep 5 mm of clearance between text and the trim line. Trimming has tolerance; text sitting 2 mm from the edge will look uneven across a run of 500.
- Supply CMYK, not RGB. Bright screen blues and greens sit outside the printable gamut and will come back duller than expected. Convert and check before approval, not after.
- 300 dpi at final size. A photo that looks fine on a phone is often 72 dpi — at A1 it will visibly pixelate. Scale-check every image at 100%.
- Outline your fonts and export a print-ready PDF. If you only have a JPG or a logo you cannot edit, our design team can rebuild the file.
