Choosing the width
- 10 mm — thin and cheap, for a one-day event badge. A long logo will not read at this width.
- 15 mm — the usual conference width: enough room for a name and a small logo.
- 20 mm — the standard for staff who wear it daily; takes a full logo with a tagline.
- 25 mm — the widest, for a large logo or a sponsor strip at an exhibition.
Material
Polyester is the workhorse: matt surface, screen-printed colour, holds up to daily wear. Satin is smoother and glossier and reproduces fine detail and photographic colour better — the choice when the logo has gradients. Tubular is the cheapest woven option for high-volume giveaways. Recycled RPET gives the same look as polyester from recycled bottles, for companies that report on sustainability.
Hooks, clips and safety
The metal hook at the bottom decides how the card hangs: a lobster claw is the standard, a swivel J-hook lets the card turn flat for a reader, and a badge reel lets staff pull the card to a scanner without taking the lanyard off. A breakaway safety buckle at the neck separates under pull — required in schools, workshops and anywhere near machinery, and worth specifying by default for staff.
Artwork
Send a vector logo (AI, EPS or PDF). Lanyard print is small, so avoid hairline strokes and text under about 6 pt — they close up on woven fabric. Tell us the width and we lay out a repeat that reads from any angle on the strap.

Send your logo and we prepare the artwork free of charge, then send a proof for approval before printing. All prices include 5% VAT.
