A custom-printed gift box in Dubai costs between AED 15 and AED 73.50 per box at 100 pieces, and the whole spread comes down to one decision: corrugated, rigid food board, or hard-case magnetic. Same size, same print, three completely different cost structures. This guide compares all three at an identical 35 × 25 × 10 cm footprint using live prices from our custom box printing collection, so you can see exactly what the upgrade costs before you commit a budget.

The three gift box constructions, explained

Corrugated box — protection first, presentation second

A corrugated box is fluted board sandwiched between two liners. It is the strongest structure per dirham, it ships flat, and it takes a simple one-colour print cleanly. Our 100 Corrugated Boxes at 35 × 25 × 10 cm with black print are AED 1,500 for 100 pieces — AED 15.00 each.

This is the right call for e-commerce mailers, subscription boxes, sample kits and anything that travels through a courier network. The fluting absorbs impact, so you can ship glassware and ceramics with minimal void fill. Where it falls short: the surface is textured, so fine gradients and photographic artwork never look crisp, and it reads as shipping rather than gifting the moment the recipient sees it.

Rigid food-board box — the presentation box

Step up to a 400 gsm food-grade board and the box changes character entirely. Smooth surface, sharp folds, a clean die-cut lid. Our 100 Custom Boxes in 400 gsm food board with black print are AED 3,360 for 100 pieces — AED 33.60 each, roughly 2.2× the corrugated price.

Food-grade board matters in the UAE for more than cakes and chocolates. It means the box is certified safe for direct food contact, which you need for Ramadan date boxes, corporate sweets, café retail packaging and any hamper where food touches the board. It also prints far better than corrugated: solid blacks stay solid, and foiling or spot UV sits flat on the surface.

Hard-case magnetic box — the one people keep

The premium tier is a rigid hard case: 170 gsm art matt paper wrapped over 1500 gsm Kappa board, with a magnetic lock closure. Our 100 Hard Case Magnet Boxes at 35 × 25 × 10 cm are AED 7,350 for 100 pieces — AED 73.50 each.

That 1500 gsm Kappa board is the number that matters. It is around 2 mm thick, does not flex when the box is held one-handed, and gives the lid the weight that makes the magnetic snap feel deliberate rather than flimsy. This is the construction used for executive gifting, VIP client boxes, product launches and anything a recipient is likely to keep on a desk or shelf. The box is no longer packaging — it is part of the gift.

Real gift box prices in Dubai (2026)

All three options below are the same 35 × 25 × 10 cm closed size, at 100 pieces, so the comparison is genuinely like-for-like. All prices are AED, VAT inclusive.

Box Material Quantity Total (AED) Per box (AED) Best for
Corrugated Box, black print Corrugated board 100 1,500 15.00 E-commerce, shipping, sample kits
Custom Box, 400 gsm food board 400 gsm food-grade board 100 3,360 33.60 Food gifting, hampers, retail
Hard Case Magnet Box, magnetic lock 170 gsm art matt on 1500 gsm Kappa 100 7,350 73.50 Executive gifts, VIP, launches
Signature Shopping Bag, Small 18 × 18 × 7 cm Luxury printed paper bag 500 1,580 3.16 Carrier for small boxes
Signature Shopping Bag, Medium Square 25 × 25 × 10 cm Luxury printed paper bag 500 1,940 3.88 Carrier for gift boxes

The carrier bag line is there for a reason. A magnetic box handed over without a bag loses half its effect at a live event, and at under AED 4 per bag it is the cheapest upgrade on the whole list. Our Signature paper bag range runs from 18 × 18 × 7 cm up to 50 × 38 × 15 cm, with gold foil, cold foil and spot UV finishes available on the same sizes.

What actually goes in the box

Box cost is only half the number your finance team will see. A useful planning rule in the UAE market: packaging should sit at roughly 15–25% of total gift value. Below 15% and the box undersells the contents; above 25% and you are spending on cardboard instead of the gift.

Real contents from our gift items range to calibrate against:

  • Moleskine Classic Large Notebook & Go Pen Set — AED 130. A boxed two-piece set that pairs naturally with a magnetic hard case for a senior-level gift.
  • Santhome genuine leather men's wallet — AED 35. Mid-tier gifting; sits well in a 400 gsm rigid box.
  • Santhome leather and metal cardholder — AED 21. Arrives in a velvet pouch and textured two-piece box already, so a slim outer box is enough.
  • Santhome A5 hardcover ruled notebook — AED 13. The volume option for onboarding and event kits.
  • Swivel car charger keychain — AED 7. Filler item for multi-piece kits.

Run the maths: a magnetic box at AED 73.50 around a AED 130 notebook set is a 36% packaging ratio — too high unless the box is genuinely part of the brand story. The same magnetic box around a three-piece kit worth AED 300 lands at 20%, which is exactly where a premium corporate gift should sit. If your kit value is under AED 100, the 400 gsm rigid box at AED 33.60 is almost always the better commercial decision.

Finishes that change how a box reads

  • Matt lamination — the default for premium boxes. Kills glare, feels soft, makes black look genuinely black. Shows fingerprints on large dark areas.
  • Gloss lamination — makes colour pop, adds scuff resistance. Better suited to food and retail packaging than executive gifting.
  • Gold or cold foil — the highest-impact upgrade per dirham. Restrict it to the logo; foiling a large area costs far more and looks cheaper, not richer.
  • Spot UV — raised gloss on selected artwork over a matt base. Works beautifully for a logo or a repeating pattern on a dark box.
  • Embossing and debossing — only viable on rigid and hard-case constructions. Corrugated fluting crushes under the die.

Our full breakdown of these techniques, with the cost difference at each quantity, is in the spot UV, foiling and embossing guide, and the surface-finish comparison sits in the lamination guide.

How to order custom gift boxes in Dubai

  1. Measure the contents, not the box. Lay the items out as they will sit, then add 5 mm clearance per side plus the thickness of any insert. Getting this wrong is the single most common cause of a reprint.
  2. Choose the construction before the artwork. Die-lines differ between corrugated, rigid and hard-case, so artwork built for one will not transfer cleanly to another.
  3. Request the die-line. We send a flat template with fold lines, bleed and safe area marked. Your designer places artwork on that file — not on a rectangle.
  4. Supply vector artwork. AI, EPS or print-ready PDF with fonts outlined, 3 mm bleed, CMYK plus any Pantone references. See the print-ready artwork checklist.
  5. Approve a digital mock-up, then a physical sample if the run is large. For orders above 500 magnetic boxes, a physical sample is worth the extra three days.
  6. Production and delivery. Corrugated and food-board boxes typically run 5–7 working days after artwork approval. Hard-case magnetic boxes take longer because the wrapping is a hand-finished process — plan 8–12 working days. Delivery across Dubai and Sharjah is next-day once produced; Abu Dhabi and the Northern Emirates usually one day behind.

Frequently asked questions

What is the minimum order for custom printed gift boxes in Dubai?

100 pieces is the practical minimum across all three constructions, and it is the quantity all the prices above are based on. The reason is die-cutting: a custom cutting die has to be made for your size, and that cost is fixed whether you order 10 boxes or 1,000. Below 100 pieces the die dominates the per-box price to the point where it stops making commercial sense. Our MOQ guide explains where each minimum comes from.

Can I reuse the same die for a different box later?

Yes — and you should. Once a die exists for your 35 × 25 × 10 cm box, reorders skip that setup entirely. This is why we recommend standardising on one or two box sizes across your gifting programme rather than a new size for every campaign. Two sizes covering 80% of your kits will save more over a year than any per-unit negotiation.

Is a magnetic box worth 4.9× the price of corrugated?

It depends entirely on who opens it and whether it stays. For a client-facing gift where the box is photographed, kept on a desk or reused for storage, yes — the cost sits inside the gift's perceived value rather than on top of it. For internal staff kits, event giveaways or anything shipped in volume, no: the 400 gsm rigid box at AED 33.60 delivers most of the presentation at less than half the cost.

Do you make boxes in sizes other than 35 × 25 × 10 cm?

Yes. That size is our reference example because it is the most-ordered corporate gift footprint and it lets us show a true like-for-like comparison. Any size is possible in all three constructions; send us the internal dimensions you need and we will quote against the same material tiers.

Can gift boxes be food-safe?

The 400 gsm food-board option is certified for direct food contact, which is what you need for dates, chocolates, baked goods and corporate sweets. Corrugated and hard-case magnetic boxes are not food-contact rated — if you want food inside a magnetic box, use a food-safe insert, tray or sealed pouch between the product and the board. This comes up constantly for Ramadan and Eid gifting; see our Eid gift boxes guide for seasonal timelines.

Do the prices include VAT and delivery?

Every price shown is VAT inclusive, so there is no 5% addition at checkout. Delivery within Dubai is included on orders of this size; Northern Emirates and Abu Dhabi deliveries are quoted based on volume, since boxes are bulky rather than heavy.

What about wooden gift boxes and display units?

For fabricated wooden structures — including self-standing wooden backdrops and display boxes for events — see our wooden box and structure range. These are build-to-order fabrication rather than printed packaging, and are priced per unit.
