A law firm in Dubai buys print for one reason: documents leave the office and land on someone else's desk — a client, a judge, an arbitrator, a bank. The paper carries the firm's name before anyone reads a word. This guide covers exactly what Dubai law firms, audit practices and management consultancies order, what it costs in 2026 (VAT inclusive), and the specification mistakes that cost firms a reprint two days before a filing deadline.

Short answer on budget: a two-partner firm fitting out from scratch spends roughly AED 1,100–1,800 on a core stationery set (1,000 letterheads, 1,000 DL envelopes, 1,000 business cards). Add foiled case folders and you are at around AED 2,500–3,200. Bound reports are quoted per job.

1. Letterheads: the one item that must be right

Legal correspondence is printed on your letterhead in-house, on a laser or inkjet printer, often double-sided, and sometimes stamped and scanned. That dictates the specification more than design does.

Use uncoated wood-free stock, 100 or 120 GSM. Never order coated or gloss art paper for letterheads — toner sits on the surface instead of bonding, and a court bundle printed on gloss will smudge under a thumb. 100 GSM is the standard working weight; 120 GSM is what partners use for engagement letters, opinions and anything going to a client's board.

Keep a clear 15 mm margin all round and leave the bottom 35 mm free for your trade licence number, TRN and address block. If your firm issues correspondence in Arabic and English, set the layout so the Arabic version mirrors — logo and letterhead furniture flip to the right-hand side rather than being pasted over an English layout.

Order the A4 wood-free letterhead in the quantity band that matches your actual burn rate. Most small firms get through 1,000 sheets a quarter; buying 5,000 at once drops the unit cost by more than half but only makes sense if your address and partner list are stable.

2. Case folders and presentation folders

A case folder does two jobs: it holds a bundle without punching holes through exhibits, and it makes a handover feel finished. The specification that holds up in a bag is 400 GSM art matt with a pocket, velvet laminated. Velvet lamination resists the fingerprinting that kills plain matt folders, and it takes 3D gold foil cleanly — which is why it is the default for firms whose logo is a monogram or a crest.

Our 100 A4 folders with pocket, velvet laminated with 3D gold foil run AED 1,425 — about AED 14.25 each. That is the right order size for a firm that uses folders for client onboarding packs and tribunal bundles rather than mass marketing. Browse the full range in the folders collection.

Two practical notes. First, specify the pocket depth against your thickest regular bundle — a 5 mm pocket will not hold a 60-page witness statement with exhibits. Second, if the folder will be handed over at a signing, ask for a business-card slit in the pocket; it costs nothing at die stage and is impossible to add later.

3. Bound reports, opinions and company profiles

Audit reports, due-diligence summaries, arbitration bundles and firm credentials documents all need binding. The choice is driven by page count and whether the document must lie flat.

  • Saddle stitch (stapled through the spine) — up to about 48 pages. Cheapest, fine for credentials decks and seminar handouts.
  • Perfect binding (glued spine) — 48 pages and up. Gives you a printable spine, which matters when the report sits on a client's shelf next to four competitors.
  • Wire-o — for anything read while being annotated. Lies completely flat; the only sensible choice for working bundles.

Start with booklets and catalogues (from AED 1,450) for standard page counts, or the 50 A4 landscape catalogues on 170 GSM at AED 1,420 for a short-run credentials document. For a detailed breakdown of page counts and binding costs, see our company profile printing guide.

4. Business cards for professional services

Legal and advisory cards get handed over in meetings, not at trade shows, so the material matters more than the quantity. Two specifications cover almost every firm:

350 GSM matt laminated — the sensible workhorse. Takes a pen (useful when a partner writes a direct line on the back), prints crisp 7 pt text for a four-line qualification list, and costs AED 119 for 1,000.

760 micron velvet laminated with spot UV — noticeably thick, soft to the touch, with the logo raised in gloss. This is the partner-level card. AED 339 for 1,000.

Avoid gloss lamination entirely for legal cards: it reflects under meeting-room lighting and makes small type hard to read. Full options are in the business card collection, and the finishes are compared in detail in our guide to spot UV, foiling and embossing.

6. How to order

  1. Send artwork as print-ready PDF — CMYK, fonts embedded or outlined, 3 mm bleed, 300 DPI on any raster element. If you only have a Word template for the letterhead, say so; we will set it up, but allow one extra working day.
  2. Confirm the legal block. Trade licence number, TRN and registered address are the three things firms most often forget to update after an office move. Check them on the proof, not on the invoice.
  3. Approve a digital proof. You will receive a PDF proof showing trim, bleed and foil position. For foiled folders, ask for the foil layer shown separately — it is the only way to catch a logo element that will be lost at foil stage.
  4. Production: 2–3 working days for letterheads, envelopes and business cards. 4–5 working days for velvet-laminated foiled folders. Bound reports depend on page count and binding — confirm when ordering.
  5. Delivery across Dubai and Sharjah is included. Abu Dhabi and the northern emirates are next-day after dispatch.

If you are working to a filing or closing deadline, say the deadline date at the quote stage rather than after approval. It changes which press the job goes on.

FAQ

What paper weight should a law firm use for letterheads?

100 GSM uncoated wood-free for everyday correspondence, 120 GSM for engagement letters, legal opinions and anything bound into a client report. Both run cleanly through office laser printers. Do not use coated or gloss stock — toner will not bond properly and the sheet will smudge.

Can you print bilingual Arabic–English letterheads?

Yes, and it is the majority of what we produce for Dubai firms. The important part is layout, not translation: Arabic needs its own mirrored arrangement rather than being dropped into an English grid, and Arabic text should be supplied as outlined vector or with the font file attached so ligatures do not break at output.

How long do foiled case folders take?

Four to five working days from proof approval for a 100-folder run with velvet lamination and 3D gold foil. The foil and lamination stages cannot be compressed much, so a folder is not a same-week item if you are starting from unapproved artwork.

What is the minimum order for letterheads?

500 sheets at AED 210 on 100 GSM. Below that, digital printing becomes the cheaper route for very small runs, but the sheet will not match the offset version exactly — so if you order 100 digitally now and 1,000 offset later, expect a slight colour shift between the two batches.

Do you print court bundles and tabbed dividers?

Yes — bundles are quoted per job based on page count, number of copies, binding type and whether tabbed dividers and index sheets are included. Send the page count and the copy count and you will get a firm figure the same day.

Are the prices VAT inclusive?

Yes. Every price shown on the store and in the table above includes 5% VAT, with printing included. A tax invoice with our TRN is issued for every order, which is what your finance team needs for input recovery.
