Why wooden rather than fabric or metal
For weddings and private events, a wooden structure does three things a tensioned fabric or metal-stand backdrop cannot. It gives you a dead-flat, rigid surface, so there is no ripple catching the photographer's lights across a 4-metre wall. It gives you something to attach things to — acrylic cutout names, floral installations, neon, a balloon arch — because MDF takes a fixing and fabric does not. And it gives you depth: a wooden backdrop reads as built set rather than a printed sheet, which is the entire difference between a stage that photographs as a venue and one that photographs as a banner.
The trade-off is that wooden backdrops are made for the event, not packed in a bag. They are delivered, installed and dismantled. The self-stand decision: open-back or full box
This is the first question we ask, because it changes the price by nearly AED 1,700 at the same dimensions. Both builds are 300 cm wide and 200 cm high, both are a wooden frame with MDF cladding and full graphics installed on every visible surface, and both are delivered in 5 working days after final design approval.
- Open from the backside — AED 5,880. Front and sides are clad and printed; the back is left open. The sides can be built narrow so the structure stays stable without eating depth. Correct when guests never see behind it, or when you need access from behind — for a DJ, a cable run, a sound desk or a photographer's rig.
- Full box — AED 7,560. Enclosed on all sides including the back, and the top if you want it. Correct for an island position in the middle of a ballroom, for a 360-degree photo area, or anywhere a guest can walk around the structure.
Most hotel-ballroom weddings in Dubai are open-back, because the stage sits against a wall. Garden and villa events are far more often full box, because people circulate.
The six wooden builds, and what each is for
1. Party backdrop — AED 950
The party backdrop starts at 2 × 2 m on a wooden frame with single-side PVC banner printing, built for birthdays and weddings, and it is the entry point into the category. What makes it work is the add-on list, all of which it is designed to carry: a balloon arch, standees, roll-ups, table decor, acrylic cutout names, a flower vase and themed character cutouts. 2. Wooden self standee — AED 2,450
The wooden self standee starts at 2 × 2 m, built in MDF with single-side PVC banner printing, for indoor events, conferences, exhibitions and parties. This is the free-standing panel you put at the entrance, beside a welcome table or at the top of a staircase — not a stage wall. Carpet option available.
3. Mosaic wall — AED 2,850
The mosaic wall starts at 2.5 × 2.5 m on a wooden frame with single-side PVC banner printing, customisable to other sizes, indoor or outdoor. The mosaic treatment breaks the surface into facets so it catches light from several angles — it is the most photographed build in this range for engagement parties and brand launches, because the wall itself has texture before anyone adds flowers to it.
4. Wooden frame backdrop — AED 3,950
The wooden frame backdrop starts at 2 × 2.5 m, single-side PVC banner print, customisable to any size, indoor or outdoor, carpet option available. At 2.5 m high it clears a seated stage party and a standing couple with headroom, which 2 m does not. This is the default main stage wall for a mid-size wedding.
5. Wooden backdrop with base — AED 4,850
The wooden backdrop with base starts at 1.5 × 2 m and is the only build in the range that can be printed on both sides and fitted with wheels. Both matter in practice: double-sided printing means the structure works as a room divider with branding or decor facing each way, and wheels mean it can be repositioned between the ceremony and the dinner service without a crew. 6. Curved wooden backdrop — AED 5,250
The curved wooden backdrop starts at 2.5 × 2.5 m, single-side PVC banner print, customisable, indoor or outdoor, carpet option available. The curve is not decorative: it wraps the subject, which removes the hard vertical edges from photographs and lets a photographer shoot at an angle without the wall ending mid-frame. For a photo wall where guests pose in twos and threes, a curve earns its premium over a flat panel.

How big should a wedding backdrop be?
Three rules that save re-quotes:
- Height before width. 2 m is enough for a seated stage; 2.5 m is what you want if anyone stands, and it is what keeps the top of the wall above the heads in a wide photo. Jumping from the 2 × 2 m party build to the 2 × 2.5 m wooden frame backdrop is the single most common upgrade we make to a brief.
- Width = sofa or stage width plus 1 m each side. A two-seater kosha sofa is roughly 2 m; a 4 m wall gives the photographer room on both sides. This is why the 4 × 2.5 m wooden backdrop at AED 9,500 is the most ordered size for a full wedding stage.
- Measure the ceiling, not the wall. Several Dubai ballrooms have a soffit, a chandelier drop or a service rail that cuts usable height below the published room height. Get the number from the venue in writing before you approve a size.
For a smaller setup — a nikah at home, a registry signing table, a corner photo spot — the fixed 180 × 240 cm wooden backdrop at AED 4,620 (6 × 8 ft, 6 working days) is sized exactly for two people and a chair. At the opposite end, the 6 × 6 m wooden backdrop at AED 4,800 covers a full stage wall for a large hall.
Lighting, carpet and the add-ons that matter
A wooden wall is a surface; what sits on and around it is what guests photograph. Three upgrades worth budgeting for:
- Backlighting. A wooden structure with an LED system behind the graphic is AED 14,175 at 3 × 2.5 m and AED 22,050 at 4 × 2.5 m, and a wooden frame backlit backdrop starts at AED 11,500 from 1.5 × 2 m with an acrylic diffuser panel. - Carpet. Available on the party backdrop, wooden frame backdrop, wooden backdrop with base, curved backdrop, mosaic wall and self standee. It matters more than people expect — it hides the base, the cable runs and the floor joins, and it is the detail that separates a built set from a panel standing on tiles.
- Acrylic cutout names and themed cutouts. Specified with the party backdrop and attachable to any MDF build. Send the spelling exactly as it should appear, with the Arabic as a vector outline if names are bilingual.
Lead times and how to order
- Send the event date, the venue and the wall size. Self-stand builds are 5 working days after final design approval; fixed-size wooden backdrops are 6 working days. Approval is the clock-start, not the enquiry — budget a few days for artwork rounds on top.
- Tell us open-back or full box, and whether anyone needs to get behind the structure during the event.
- Send artwork as vector (AI, EPS or PDF) at the final size or to scale. - Approve the proof, then confirm the install window with the venue. Most Dubai venues restrict loading hours and want a named contact.
