Disposable car mats are one of the highest-return print items a workshop, dealership or valet service can buy. They sit under the driver's feet for the whole journey home after a service, they carry your phone number at eye level when the driver looks down, and at under one dirham each they cost less than the paper cup of coffee you handed over in the waiting room. The four car mat sizes and what each one fits
A3 — 42 × 30 cm
The economy size. Covers the driver-side footwell of a compact car or hatchback. This is the size garages buy when the mat is purely a cleanliness measure and the branding is a bonus. Cheapest entry into the category.
B3 — 48 × 34 cm
The most common size ordered in the UAE. It covers the footwell of a mid-size sedan properly, which matters here because most workshop customers are driving a Camry, Accord, Altima or similar. If you are unsure which size to order, order B3.
A2 — 42 × 60 cm
Longer rather than wider. Protects from the pedals back past the seat rail, which is where most of the grease and sand ends up. Popular with dealerships doing pre-delivery inspection and with detailing studios.
B2 — 48 × 68 cm
The full-coverage size for SUVs and 4x4s — the dominant vehicle type in the UAE. It is roughly double the material of A3 and priced accordingly, but for a Land Cruiser or Patrol footwell nothing smaller actually does the job.
Paper stock: 80, 90, 100 or 130 GSM?
Wood-free 80–100 GSM is uncoated, matte, and absorbs moisture — which is exactly what you want from a mat that will sit under a wet or sandy shoe. Colours print slightly softer. This is the correct default for a working garage.
Glossy 90–130 GSM is coated. Colours are noticeably brighter and the mat holds its shape better, but the coated surface is more slippery underfoot and repels rather than absorbs. Choose glossy when the mat is a branding piece — showroom handovers, car launches, premium detailing — rather than a workshop consumable.

What the cost per mat actually works out to
This is the number that decides the order, so here it is plainly. B3 wood-free 100 GSM — the most-ordered line — is AED 1.18 per mat at 500 pieces, AED 0.62 at 1,000, AED 0.37 at 2,000, AED 0.26 at 5,000, AED 0.20 at 10,000 and AED 0.17 at 20,000.
The break in the curve is between 500 and 1,000. Going from 500 to 1,000 pieces costs only AED 30 more in total and halves your unit cost. If you service more than 20 cars a week, ordering 500 is close to throwing money away — you will reorder within six months anyway. Designing a car mat that actually works
- Put the phone number in the lower third. The driver looks down at the footwell, not at the pedals. The top third gets covered by the shoe.
- One or two colours only. The pricing above is for 1–2 colour printing. Full-colour artwork on a consumable that gets stepped on is money spent on something nobody examines closely.
- High contrast beats brand-accurate. A pale grey logo on white is invisible in a dim footwell. Use your darkest brand colour.
- Add a QR code only if it leads somewhere useful — a service booking page or a WhatsApp link, not a homepage. Our QR code design rules cover minimum scannable sizes.
- Leave a 5 mm bleed and keep text 8 mm inside the trim. Mats are guillotined in large stacks and a millimetre of drift is normal.

The sun shade is the underrated item here. In Dubai between May and September it goes up every single day, it presents a surface roughly the size of an A1 poster, and at AED 11.04 each in a run of 500 it costs less than a branded mug.

- Pick the size by the vehicles you actually service. Sedans → B3. SUVs → B2 or A2. Mixed workshop → order B3 and keep a smaller stock of B2.
- Pick the stock. Working garage → wood-free. Showroom or handover → glossy.

Frequently asked questions
How many car mats should a workshop order at a time?
Work backwards from throughput. A garage servicing 25 cars a week uses roughly 1,300 mats a year if it places one per car, or 2,600 at two per car. Ordering 2,000 B3 wood-free at AED 730 gives you a year of stock at AED 0.37 each — far better economics than three separate 500-piece orders at AED 590 apiece.
Can car mats be printed in full colour?
The prices listed are for 1 or 2 spot colours, which is what the large majority of orders use. Full-colour (CMYK) car mat printing is available on request and is quoted per job, since the cost depends on quantity and stock. For a consumable item, two colours almost always gives the better return.
Do you print car mats with a perforated tear-off section?
Yes — perforation for a service-reminder stub or a discount voucher is a standard finishing option and is quoted with your job. It turns the mat into a second touchpoint after the driver gets home.
What is the difference between wood-free and glossy for a car mat?
Wood-free is uncoated and absorbs moisture and fine sand — better underfoot, softer colours. Glossy is coated, brighter and stiffer, but it repels moisture rather than absorbing it and is slightly slippery. Garages order wood-free; showrooms and detailing studios order glossy.
Can I order different sizes in one job?
Yes, and it is common. Many workshops run 1,000 B3 for sedans plus 500 B2 for SUVs. Each size is a separate line item at its own quantity price — you do not get a combined quantity break, but you do get a single delivery.
